Dr Oliver Mason MA PhD

Oliver Mason has an MA in Computational Linguistics from the University of Trier and a PhD in English from the University of Birmingham. His main research interests are in computational linguistics and natural language processing (NLP). Among other things he is currently working on corpus-based phraseology, automatic processing of pattern grammar, and the use of parallel computing for corpus analysis.
Among his recent publications is the volume Language, People, Numbers (co-edited with Andrea Gerbig). Oliver is also a co-editor of the ELRJournal.
He teaches undergraduate modules on Discourse Analysis and on the role of language in the information society, and is the goalkeeper in the English department's staff 6-a-side football team.
